A couple of times a year the paddock gets a hair cut. Topping encourages new growth and also helps to keep weeds under control. Pete brought his tractor and topper into the paddock and an hour later it looks quite different. We prefer using a flail topper rather than a rotary cut since it mulches the grass which in turn works its way into the soil. Cutting tends to leave the grass on the surface to either dry or rot unless removed. So please note that there will be cut grass throughout – wellies or stout shoes recommended.
